Pinewood Lake of Connecticut

Pinewood Lake is a natural lake located northwest of 330 feet (100 m) tall Mischa Hill in the Nichols Farms Historic District section of Trumbull, Connecticut.

Mashapaug Lake of Connecticut

Mashapaug Lake is a 297-acre (1.20 km2) lake surrounded by Bigelow Hollow State Park and Nipmuck State Forest in the town of Union in northeastern Connecticut. The lake has a maximum depth of 39.5 feet (12.0 meters), and an average depth of 15 feet (4.6 meters). Its normal surface elevation is 706 feet. The lake is very popular with fishermen and boaters from the area, and can also be used for swimming.

Lake Lillinonah of Connecticut

Lake Lillinonah is located in Fairfield and Litchfield counties of western Connecticut, in the northeastern United States. It is the second largest lake in Connecticut, smaller only than Candlewood Lake. The lake is bordered by six towns: Brookfield, Bridgewater, Newtown, New Milford, Roxbury, and Southbury. It was formed in 1955 by impoundment of the Housatonic River and the Shepaug River by the Shepaug Dam which was built by the Connecticut Light and Power Company.

Lake Hayward of Connecticut

 

Lake Hayward is a natural spring-fed lake situated just north of Devil's Hopyard State Park in the northeastern corner of East Haddam, Connecticut and is bordered by the towns of Colchester and Salem.

Lake Hayward, once known as Long Pond (by the native tribes who inhabited its shores) and then Shaw Lake, is named for Nathaniel Hayward. In 1924, Charles Goodyear, of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and Nathaniel Hayward were partners in a rubber mill which operated on the lake. Mr. Hayward remained in Colchester, Connecticut when their partnership dissolved. After Nathaniel Hayward's death, Lake Hayward, as well as Hayward Avenue, were named in his honor.

Lake Hayward is approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long and 0.5 miles (804 meters) wide. Its surface area is 174 acres (70.4 hectares) and it is 348 feet (106 meters) above sea level. The lake has an average depth of 11 feet (3.35 meters) and a maximum depth of 37 feet (11.2 meters).

The lake has four private beaches and does not allow motorboats with gasoline engines. The western side of the lake is overseen and monitored by the local homeowners association, the Property Owners Association of Lake Hayward (POALH). There are both year-round and summer homes in the area.

Great Hollow Lake of Connecticut

Great Hollow Lake is approximately 16 acres (65,000 m2) in size and is a part of William E. Wolfe Park, located in Monroe, Connecticut. The lake includes a trout park with approximately 700 feet (210 m) of beach and facilities. Fishing, swimming and non-motorized boating are all permitted.
